He told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and earth.
Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations,
baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you;
and be sure of this—that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”

Youth Ministry
Hello, I'm Patty and I have been involved in youth ministry for almost thirty years and find it one of the most rewarding aspects of my life as a follower of Jesus Christ. Please, join me as we explore creative ways to "disciple one youth at a time."
This site was created with a two-fold purpose. Mainly as a platform to share with the parents of the children (kindergarten - 6th grade) at my church in Hampton, VA, what their children are learning each Sunday. Secondly, share my lessons (at no cost) with other individuals who also have the desire to serve, share, and demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ with young people.
These lessons are the result of prayer and preparation, scouring a multitude of resources to create interactive and interesting lessons that not only teach but at times challenge young minds to think deeper while developing their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If I use another individual's idea, I will provide a link to where the information originated. At times, I have combined or tweaked ideas from multiple sources to create a lesson, craft, or activity to make it my own.

On a typical Sunday our children's church schedule is:
- Coloring page or activity sheets (with the lessons theme, if possible) and crayons will be placed out on the table for the children to begin coloring while they wait for me to finish setting up (audio visual equipment, supplies, etc.) or to give late arrivals time to settle in before I begin the lesson.
- We open with prayer.
- Then I will display the scripture references and memory verse for the day's lesson for them to take turns reading. I do this because I look for a translation that the children can easily read and understand, so I use various translations.
- A short video (if possible) or a drama skit will follow to introduce that day’s lesson.
- Then we dive into the lesson that has been tailored to their level of understanding.
- Sometimes I will replay the video after the lesson and when I do the children will typically comment on things they did not observe while watching it the first time.
- A craft and/or activity they can take home to remind them of what they learned that day (it will typically have the scripture reference or memory verse for that day’s lesson on the craft activity).
- We will conclude with a snack, juice, and free time (I set out logos, play-doh, and various board games, etc.), while we wait for parents.
